Documents needed for a flight compensation claim

A first check can start with basic details, but strong evidence makes the later claim process easier.

Basic details are enough to start

A first review usually needs flight number, date, route, issue type, and contact details. That is enough to classify the case initially.

If the case looks viable, supporting documents can be requested later.

The most useful records

Booking confirmation, boarding pass, e-ticket, and messages from the airline or travel agency are the most helpful records.

If the airline rerouted you, keep the new itinerary as well because original and actual arrival times often need to be compared.

  • booking reference or reservation confirmation
  • boarding pass or check-in confirmation
  • email or SMS notices from the airline
  • receipts for meals, hotel, or transport if not provided

Photos can help

A photo of the departure board, gate notice, or airline app message can help show what happened at the airport.

The evidence does not have to be perfect. It should confirm the flight, date, disruption, and practical consequences.

If the boarding pass is missing

A missing boarding pass does not automatically end the case. Booking confirmation, airline emails, payment records, or travel history may still help.

In that situation, it is usually better to submit the case for review than to reject it too early.
